घरबहाल कर र कटौती
Rental income from houses, flats and commercial premises is aggregated with your other earnings and taxed at the ordinary slabs applied to individuals. The taxpayer is the owner who receives the rent, not the tenant, and owners must report rental receipts in their yearly return even when the property is held through a family member. The saving grace is the cost of earning that rent. Standard deductions cover a visible portion of the gross rent for repairs, maintenance, insurance and municipal charges in accordance with the private sources rules, so the assessable figure is never the full amount you collected. Mortgage interest attributable to the property may also reduce taxable income where the acquisition is documented. Keeping tenant agreements, repair bills and bank receipts is therefore essential, because the department will ask for evidence before accepting deductions. Many landlords under-declare and are later caught through bank records and electricity usage. Reporting real rent and claiming real costs leaves a smaller assessment than hiding income and paying interest, penalties and risking reassessment invitations.
